One of the jewels of Bainbridge Island is the Grand Forest- although strangely enough, when I first moved here I never took the time to check it out. It wasn't until just a few years ago, that a friend of mine took me on a hike through this amazing forest. Beautiful Douglas Firs, Western Red Cedar and an understory of ferns, salal and Oregon grape, set the stage for a peaceful walk or run for the many islanders who visit this place on a daily basis. Now there is a new opportunity. The Hilltop Project is a large parcel of land that the Bainbridge Island Land Trust hopes to purchase to connect both the east and west sections of the Grand Forest. Watch this great video and tell me what you think! For more information, check out the Hilltop Now! website.
